Curator PDF Capture
Privacy
Last updated: 2026-08-03
Curator PDF Capture is a browser extension for Curator (discovery-curator.com). It saves the scientific paper you are viewing — including its PDF — into your own private Curator library. This page explains exactly what it accesses and stores.
What it accesses, and only when you click
- The current page — when you click the extension button, it reads the open tab to find the paper’s identifier (DOI or PubMed ID) and its PDF link. It does not read pages in the background.
- Your Curator session cookie — it reads your existing discovery-curator.com sign-in so the upload is authenticated as you. It has no login of its own and never refreshes or transmits your session elsewhere.
- The PDF bytes — it fetches the paper’s PDF from the page using your own browser session (so institutional/publisher access carries over) and uploads it to your Curator storage.
What it stores
- The PDF you chose to capture, in your own private, owner-only Curator storage. No other user can read it.
- Minimal capture telemetry so we can improve reliability: the outcome (success/failure and why) and the publisher’s bare domain (e.g.
nature.com). We never store full URLs, page content, cookies, tokens, or credentials.
What it never does
- No browsing-history collection.
- No selling or sharing of your data with third parties.
- No advertising, tracking, or profiling.
Your control
Everything the extension saves is your Curator data. To delete a PDF you captured or uploaded, open that paper in Curator, open its Full text view and choose Remove PDF. That deletes the stored file. If Curator extracted the paper’s full text and figures from your file, those are deleted with it; text extracted from another source — an open-access copy, or another member’s upload — is not yours to delete and stays. Where the full text did come from your file, the same place also offers Replace PDF if you uploaded the wrong one.
A saved paper’s bibliographic record (title, authors, journal, abstract) is shared catalogue data and is not removed by deleting your PDF. To remove the paper from your own library, unsave it there. For anything else — including deleting your account and its data — write to us at the address below, or manage connected services in your account settings. Uninstalling the extension stops all access immediately.
